Figure Caption

The Figure Caption component marks figures for automatic indexing and provides descriptive labels that integrate with the Table of Figures component.

Configuration

Configure the component with these options:

Option Description
Channel Select figure category: General, Tables, Charts, or Images
Name Figure identifier (e.g., "Figure {$figure.number}") - supports text templates
Title Descriptive title for the figure - supports text templates

Customize appearance for different caption elements using separate styling tabs (Common, Name, Title) with text alignment, font properties, colors, margins, and layout options.

Use Cases

  • Figure indexing - mark charts, tables, and images for automatic inclusion in Table of Figures
  • Professional documentation - provide formal figure numbering and titles for reports
  • Cross-references - create consistent figure identification throughout documents
  • Categorized listings - organize different figure types using channel-based filtering

Tips

  • Use the same Channel setting as your Table of Figures component for proper integration
  • Apply text templates in Name field for automatic figure numbering (e.g., "{$figure.number}")
  • Place Figure Caption components near their associated visual elements
  • Ensure pages containing Figure Caption components are marked as countable for page numbering in Table of Figures
  • Use different channels (Tables, Charts, Images) to create separate figure categories
